Workshop Description

Explore the dynamic relationship between your own inner space, the body, and the surrounding environment in a workshop designed to deepen artistic presence, awareness, and expressiveness. Guided by choreographer Yesenia Fuentes, this experience offers performers practical tools to consciously engage with both internal sensations and external landscapes, transforming movement into dance and presence into embodied realization.

In a safe and supportive environment, participants cultivate heightened listening skills, tuning into the subtle layers of perception that give rise to authentic movement, rhythm, and emotional resonance. Each session incorporates physical conditioning to strengthen connection, flexibility, and balance, allowing the body to ground itself while opening fully to expression.

Through this process, participants are invited to dive deeply into their creative potential, expand their expressive range, and enhance their stage presence. The workshop welcomes practitioners in live arts—dance, theater, performance art, and any discipline where a profound understanding of time, space, and embodiment can enrich artistic practice.

About the Teacher

Yesenia Fuentes, a choreographer born in Bogotá and based in Montreal, develops a corporeal language where memory, sensibility, and transformation converge. Trained in contemporary dance, she approaches movement as a space of listening—a territory where care, embodiment, and relationship become choreographic material.

Her artistic journey was profoundly expanded in 2009 when she discovered butoh, a form of dance-theater originating in Japan that embraces unrestricted movement, metamorphosis, and radical authenticity. Since 2014, she has studied with renowned butoh artists Masaki Iwana (RIP) and Moeno Wakatatsumu, and continues her exploration alongside Marianela Leon Ruiz, among others.

Participants are invited into a journey of self-discovery, where the body becomes a site of transformation—free to express, reinvent, and reveal its complexity. Yesenia’s workshops open a poetic and liberating space for each individual to explore their inner landscapes and cultivate a deeper, more embodied artistic presence.
